For much of its history the Ochil League has played for more than the foursomes title. Alongside the competition runs a long-standing commitment to charitable giving — turning a summer of golf into real support for the communities of Clackmannanshire and Perthshire.

Charity & Community

A Tradition of Giving

The Ochil League has, for many years, supported local charities across the Clackmannanshire and Perthshire region. What began as friendly competition between neighbouring clubs has grown into something the member clubs take quiet pride in: a season of golf that leaves a lasting mark beyond the scorecard. Every round played, every tournament contested, and every gathering in the clubhouse contributes to a shared effort that returns money and goodwill to the towns and glens these clubs call home.

The principle is a simple one. Each member club is invited to nominate a charity of its own choosing — a cause close to the hearts of its members, often rooted in the local community, a hospice, a hospital ward, an air ambulance, or a charity that has touched the lives of golfers and their families. Those nominated causes then share in the funds the league raises over the course of the season, distributed each year under the stewardship of the league's administrators.

It is a fitting expression of what the Ochil League has always been about. The clubs may be rivals on the fairway, but the charitable scheme reminds everyone that they are first and foremost neighbours — bound together by the same hills, the same weather, and the same wish to do a little good with the game they love.

The Scheme

How It Works

Step One

Each Club Nominates

Every one of the ten member clubs puts forward a charity of its choosing — a cause that matters to its members and its corner of the region. The choice rests entirely with the club.

Step Two

Funds Are Raised Together

Through the league matches and the tournaments held for member clubs across the season, funds are gathered collectively — a shared pot built from a summer of golf well played.

Step Three

Managed by the League

The league's administrators oversee the scheme from start to finish — collecting the funds and ensuring each nominated charity receives its share, fairly and transparently, every year.

“Rivals on the fairway, neighbours off it — and a little better for the region with every season played.”

Causes Close to Home

Charities the League Has Supported

Over the years the Ochil League's giving has reached a range of well-loved Scottish causes. Among the charities the league has supported are Macmillan Cancer Support and Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) — organisations whose work is felt deeply in communities right across Clackmannanshire and Perthshire.

Each season's nominated charities are chosen afresh by the member clubs, so the roll of beneficiaries continues to grow with every year the competition is played.
